Gift guide for anesthesia students

Untitled_Artwork.png

Just in case anyone is wondering what would be a good gift for an anesthesia resident / student CRNA … whether it be for Christmas (in which case, wow you’re cutting it pretty close), a birthday, or to celebrate admission into a program: I have ideas for you!

Update 5/2021: I made an updated version of this gift guide / my most used supplies — check it out here

  1. Scrub caps! A nurse I precepted in the ICU gave me this as my “congratulations on getting into CRNA school” present, and I still think its one of the best gifts to welcome someone into operating room life. I actually started my own company making scrub caps — the photos above show our best seller! 💙✨

  2. iTunes giftcard ($100 would be nice). I wouldnt be surprised if the total amount of $ an anesthesia student spends on apps or subscriptions in the first year was close to $500. We purchase a lot of apps for note taking, transcribing, referencing anesthesia guides, and case prepping. Right off the bat I can tell you most students use Vargo ($80) to prep for cases on a weekly basis, Otter ($50/yr for students) to transcribe notes, and Block Buddy ($99/yr) for regional anesthesia.

  3. Birkenstock clogs ($150). I know… I agree, it’s kinda weird, but apparently it’s a thing. At my last rotation alone, three students had these

  4. Stethoscope (appx $250 depending on model). I used this Littman cardiology through my time as an ICU nurse and liked it a lot. Unfortunately it got lost (STOLEN) last month :(

  5. Breville espresso machine ($2500). This one is a splurge for sure, but could be a great group gift. I’ve had mine for 3+ yrs now and I use it 2x every-single-day, sometimes even more if friends are over for studying. I’ve owned a couple versions of the Breville espresso machines, but my tried and true favorite is this one, and I think it’s truly worth the price tag
