Tomorrow I start my cardiac rotation. I’m a little nervous because the last time I’ve thought about complex anesthesia (the kind of anesthesia that takes a lot of set up time in the morning, and requires more monitors than just standard ASA) was about, oh, 5 months ago. Do I remember how to place an A line? Do I remember the units, concentration, starting dose, and titration intervals of epi, norepi, levo, dopamine, milrinone, dopamine, etc? Do I remember why we put pulse oximeters on both hands in CPB cases? Some of the answers to these questions are yes, and some of them are no.

I guess I’ll cram/review today… I just don’t want to look like a complete idiot. Part idiot is probably unavoidable though.
